NAB-TNSB 19th State Level Open Chess Tournament for the Visually Impaired
The 19th State Level Open Chess Tournament for the Visually Impaired was organized by National
Association for the Blind – Tamil Nadu State Branch (NAB-TNSB).
The tournament was sponsored by Trans Shipping India Ltd. for the 14th consecutive year. The venue
was sponsored by The Madras Seva Sadhan for the 3rd consecutive year. The event was approved and
conducted by the Tamil Nadu Braille Chess Association.
The tournament attracted both rated players and new players aspiring to become chess champions. A
total of 50 participants from various districts of Tamil Nadu took part in the tournament. The
participants included 14 rated players, 6 women players, and 15 students under the age of
19.
The Chief Guest graced the valedictory function and played a few games with the participants. He
mentioned that it was the first time he had witnessed a chess tournament for the visually impaired
and expressed his admiration for their remarkable talent and determination. He also assured his
continued support in promoting and developing their chess skills.
The winners were presented with trophies, certificates, and cash prizes in recognition of their
outstanding performance.
