White Cane Day

On the 15th of October 2023 White Cane Day is celebrated to create awareness about the significance of white cane for the Visually Impaired. We observed the day by creating awareness among various sections of the community like college students, hospital staff and corporate employees. The first program was on the 13th of October 2023 at CCTE College of Science and Arts at Perumbur. This was organized by Psychology department as a part of their internship programme.There were 50 students. They were very interactive and asked a number of questions. It was a meaningful interaction where students from the blind school showed enthusiasm and readiness to engage. The volunteers patiently explained each step of the white cane and helped them try it. Everyone appreciated the effort and learned the importance of empathy in society.
